    Have been going to Ivan to cut and colour my hair for the last one to two years. At first my friend recommended him and I’ve been going to him since, and I’ve also recommended him to my family members who are now all going to him to have their hair done too. Ivan works very fast and unlike other hairdressers I’ve been to, I never have to wait a long time before my turn at appointment time.

    Stylist: Ivan is amazing with his hair cutting skills and works super fast. He is accommodating, listens to what style you want and makes suggestions too.

    came for a haircut (i have permed hair). Shin was really nice and efficient with the cut while following my requests. he was also very considerate and professional throughout the process, such as passing me tissue to wipe my hair off my face and covering up my legs with a towel during the hair wash.

    2nd time getting my hair done here! 🙂 was recommended by my mom. came for a trim the first time and a perm the second time, i ready many good reviews of tracey’s work and decided to try out the salon! tracey was really friendly and gentle, and gave me helpful advice on how i can take care of my hair and curls. highly recommend! 🙂

    Walked in for the first time to cut and colour my hair last week. Tom was assigned to manage my hair. He is friendly and chatty. The atmosphere in this salon is relaxing despite the crowd on a weekday morning.

    I’ve come here a few times for hair cut and colour, and the experience has always been great. My hairstylist Shin has been very warm and attentive to detail, and cuts my hair beautifully. I also appreciate how The Base doesn’t hard sell their services or packages, but focuses on recommending and crafting styles that will suit customers’ needs.

    I had an amazing experience at Base Salon! From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and professional. My stylist, Ivan, took the time to listen to exactly what I wanted and gave me the perfect cut,color and hairstyle. The atmosphere of the salon is so relaxing and stylish, and I love how they use high-quality products. I left feeling refreshed and confident! I highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for top-notch service and results.

    Ivan has been managing my hair for more than 10 years now, and I can’t seem to find someone else that I can trust my hair with. He takes effort in remembering the hairstyle that his regulars go for, and he’s constantly kept abreast of latest hair trends to provide recommendations when need be.     This barber shop is right near the subway station, which used to be very convenient and affordable. And the stylist Ken there is very skilled and very convenient in communicating about hair styles. Moreover, Ken is from China. It is highly recommended for international students and those who come to work from China to find him.

    Have been coming here for several years to get my hair done by Shin. Super good stylist who always cuts and styles to my request (attentive to details in photos I show of the types of haircuts I want!) and has good recommendations for styling after the haircut ☺️ Have also done perming and hair colouring here twice, all with great results!
    The salon itself is clean and comfortable, and prices are super reasonable. Staff are all attentive and helpful!

    Stylists who understand your requests and advise on suitability.

    Update on 20 Oct: Life choices can be as easy and complicated as they get, the same can be said for selecting a salon.

    As someone who has lived in different countries over the past two decades, finding the right person in the right premises is such.

    Long story short, Ken is an individual who has no airs, listens and gives his opinion on how appropriate and lasting his work will have on me. Each session will not take up too much time and he doesn’t take personal calls in-between.

    He does his work efficiently and professionally.

    The Base Salon is prized to have a diligent individual like Ken.

    Stylist: Ken is a great personality.

    I have been visiting The Base Salon for years.
    However, today I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation to my hairstylist, Ivan and his staff for their professional and attentive service.
    Ivan will take time to ask about my preferences, offered helpful suggestions for every visit.
    A big shout-out to the staff, she made sure I was comfortable with every step, explained to me on what the type of treatment she is doing on my scalp.
    I randomly mentioned I was cold, she brought another cape to keep me warm. 😘
    Not forgetting to mention about the salon, the salon was clean, stylish, and had a relaxing ambiance, which made the entire experience enjoyable.
    Thank you again for such a fantastic experience, never failed to give my hair a new life.
    So, drop-by to The Base Salon if you want to have a change from your usual hairstyle.

    We have trust Vincent with our family’s hairstyling for many years and couldn’t be happier! My wife and I always leave the salon feeling confident and refreshed, thanks to Vincent’s remarkable ability to understand exactly what we required. He not only able to replicate the look but also offers expert advice to suit our personal styles. From the very first trim for our little one at just 4 months old to now, Vincent has shown incredible patience and care making each visit enjoyable for our toddler and stress-free for us as parents.     Tom is clearly above his league when it comes his talent- Hair cutting, styling and even recommending the right hair colour for my skin tone! His schedule is always packed but always with a smile with so much energy, zest and passion in what he does! Never a dull moment with Tom!

    Glad to have met Tom from my walk in, he was very professional and took time to explain about my hair and how to upkeep it.     I was at The Base Salon yesterday doing Mucota hair rebonding.

    Kent could not speak English. Only China Mandarin, which I couldn’t understand fully.

    I told the hairstylist beside me to ask Kent to leave a gap of 1 inch hair from my scalp without chemical and not to let the chemical touch my scalp during rebonding.

    After he told Kent about it, Kent still let the chemical touch my scalp. During the flat iron straightening, the flat iron also burnt my scalp. He then uses the hair dryer (set to cold air) to blow at it.

    After the rebonding, my scalp is getting more painful. I have to wash my scalp and hair with shampoo immediately after I reach home.

    It was a very bad Mucota rebonding experience at The Base Salon. I would not recommend this hair salon

    I’m a bit torn about Base because I’ve had one amazing experience there early this year, and another one where the stylist completely misunderstood and miscommunicated despite me checking repeatedly during the haircut.

    First time I went was early this year, a lady stylist helped me do a simple bleach highlight and cut that would grow out nicely without maintenance as I was overseas for an extended time. She fully understood my needs and I’d never been so happy with a cut for so long!

    Unfortunately I didn’t take down her name, so in September when I called for an appointment I said any of the two lady stylists would do. Somehow I was assigned a male stylist (didn’t get his name – gotta make this a habit) who proceeded to give me bangs even though I asked for a layered fringe. Even though I explained and showed photos throughout the process, and he repeatedly assured me it would not look like bangs, I ended up with a haircut I explicitly did not want, and could not fix because I was late for a dinner appointment.

    It’s been over a month and I’m still so unhappy I had to post this review. The bangs are still growing out, and its not just vanity – this look does not suit me and is not how I wanted to present myself during job interviews and meetings.

    Just know which stylist would actually suit you and give ample time to rectify any changes.

    Stylist: My stylist is Ken, and he is very knowledgable of his craft and will always give a rundown of what he is going to do so i have an idea of what is going on. He is also very flexible and gives me suggestions on my cut, as well as adapting to what i want as he is cutting

    I have been with Vincent for some time. He is skillful and able to make good suggestions to me. Always feeling happy after a haircut or color. Definitely recommend this salon if you are in the west.

    Have been going to the base for years. The service was excellent. A shout-out to Tom who have been my hairstylist for years, always giving his professional advice. Whenever I come for a haircut, I no need to say anything and he will know how to give me the best haircut. A guy who have good memory and full of joke, the visit always end with smile and laughter. Highly recommend.

    After cutting my hair at the base salon for many years, i have become familiarised with the staff and their friendly ways. They have always been welcoming and accomodating, and never fail to satisfy my hairstyling needs. Definitely recommend getting a haircut from there.
