    I decided to take a leap of faith and try their hair extensions, and I’m happy and satisfied with the results. Despite reading some negative reviews here, I raised my concerns with them on WhatsApp, and they addressed everything clearly.

    The atmosphere was decent—not as bad as some reviews suggested—and the service was good. There was no hard-selling or pushiness. Xiao Lu took the time to explain three main issues with my hair before starting the process, which I was already aware of, but my main goal was to get the extensions done, and they turned out great.

    Thank you, Castle V! I’ll be back in 2-3 months to remove and redo them.

    To everyone considering a visit to Castle V Salon, I strongly advise you to read this carefully if you want to avoid a disastrous experience.

    I made an appointment at Castle V Salon on 27th January 2025, at 3:30 PM, the day before Chinese New Year’s Eve, with the hope of getting my hair permed and styled beautifully. Unfortunately, what followed was a complete nightmare.

    I arrived early at 3:15 PM and immediately noticed the salon was small, disorganized, and unclean. I was led to a consultation with a male hairstylist of Chinese nationality (I do not know his name), to whom I showed an image twice of the perm style I wanted. He assured me confidently that he could deliver. I also told him that i want center parting (4 freaking times during the process and he acknowledged). However, the environment raised red flags. The basin where my hair was washed was visibly stained and unclean, but I reluctantly decided to proceed as i just want to get my hair done for the new year.

    The “hair wash” was the first sign of unprofessionalism, he barely touched my scalp, applying conditioner only to the ends of my hair. Following this, he brought me back to my seat and immediately started cutting the ends my hair without consulting me. He only asked for my input after cutting some part of my hair, at which point I told him to trim “just a bit.” Despite this, he insisted that cutting more was necessary to achieve the curls in the photo I showed him. I trusted him (i mean he already cut my hair) so why not right?

    He then led me to wash my hair a second time, this time with shampoo. Then, he began the curling process. The entire experience was painful. From combing my hair to setting the curls, he repeatedly asked me to “create tension” (resisting my hair and head to move to one side) to help him curl it better. What kind of professional hairstylist puts such a task on the client?

    Five hours later, at 8:30 PM, the result was horrendous. My hair was completely ruined.
    • My bangs were uneven, with two different curl shapes. I needed to voice it out because it was so so so bad and he wanted to just leave it.
    • The center parting I requested was ignored, and my hair was left in disarray.
    • The curls didn’t match the photo I provided, and my hair FELT severely damaged—dry, frizzy, and unmanageable.

    When I expressed my dissatisfaction, another woman (with tattoos) defended the stylist, dismissing my concerns by saying, “If you go home and wash your hair, it will become curlier,” and “If you want a center parting, you can just blow it yourself at home. no problem.” Such remarks are unacceptable. If I could achieve the look at home, why did I spend over $200 at this salon?

    I contacted the “boss” on Instagram, who was kind enough to apologize and issue a full refund. She also promised that her superior, Xiaolu, would assist me the next day and help fix my center parting. However, upon returning to the salon, another man—taller than the previous hairstylist—greeted me rudely with a passive-aggressive tone, asking, “你要什么？” (“What do you want?”) in Mandarin. When I explained I was waiting for his boss, he impatiently told me to “say what I wanted” and proceeded to argue with me about the process of achieving a center parting. He insisted chemicals were necessary, which contradicted my previous experiences at reputable salons.

    The interaction escalated into a heated argument (in my father’s presence), and we ultimately decided to leave due to his hostile attitude and lack of professionalism.

    To summarize:
    • My hair is ruined—thick, dry, frizzy, and poorly styled.
    • The service from the male hairstylists and tattooed woman was unacceptable.
    • The lack of accountability from the salon, including the no-show of the promised “boss,” demonstrates poor management.

    I initially intended to let the matter rest after receiving the refund. However, given the appalling follow-up treatment and unfulfilled promises, I feel compelled to share my experience. Think twice before trusting Castle V Salon with your hair. thank you

    Like many others, I also checked Google reviews before visiting the salon. Of course, I saw some negative reviews, but I noticed there were far more positive ones, praising their professionalism and service. I decided to give it a try because I know no salon is perfect or free of criticism. In the end, I was not disappointed! They were professional, friendly, and very patient in helping me achieve the hair texture, color, and cut I wanted. I am truly satisfied! Thank you to the team, and thank you to my instincts. A salon that has been operating in Kovan for 19 years is no small feat! Highly recommend Boss Xiao Lu and Chris.

    Last week, I visited Castle V to get my hair permed, and I feel the need to share my experience and highly recommend this salon. One of the female assistants was very polite and considerate, even asking if I wanted to order food when she noticed I might be hungry. The salon was extremely busy, especially during the Chinese New Year season, and I truly understand how hard the hairstylists and staff were working. Despite the rush, they remained professional, polite, and even gave me tips on how to care for my scalp.

    After a week, I returned to give feedback about my perm. Chris was the hairstylist in charge of my perm. She patiently explained and analyzed my hair texture, recommending styles that would suit me. My main request was for a low-maintenance style. I also didn’t want to bring in photos from the internet because I know that can be risky—everyone’s hair texture is different. I believe in trusting the stylist’s expertise rather than blindly copying a photo.

    What drew me to this salon was their portfolio of work, which felt genuine and aligned with my preferences. I’m so glad I chose Chris because the perm she gave me was amazing. I can wash and blow-dry my hair effortlessly, and it still looks great. My friends and colleagues even commented that I look prettier and younger after this perm! In the past, perms made me look older, and I had almost lost the courage to try again. But this time, I’m beyond satisfied and would highly recommend Chris!

    Castle V is a hair salon that I genuinely recommend! This is my honest review based on my personal experience.

    I saw on their Instagram that they were offering a promotion for perming services. It had been six years since my last perm because my previous experience was a disaster—I ended up with an overly frizzy hairstyle that almost made me cry. However, after seeing Castle V’s work, I decided to give it another shot!

    When I visited Castle V, I was lucky enough to have my appointment with the salon owner. She suggested an anti-frizz treatment along with the perm since my natural curls were quite unruly. I didn’t mind adding the treatment to the package, which totaled RM288, because without it, the perm would have turned out frizzy—no wonder my past perms always looked like a lion’s mane!

    For anyone who wants to get a perm but is afraid of a bad outcome, I highly recommend booking an appointment with Chris. She mentioned that she frequently travels to China and Korea to enhance her skills, so it’s best to book in advance.

    I will definitely recommend Castle V to my friends! Ever since my visit, my colleagues and friends have been complimenting my beautiful hair at work and events. Thank you, Castle V!

    My colleague and I booked an appointment for hair coloring together. We did some research online and found Castle V, conveniently located near the metro station. The salon is on the second floor, making it easy to find. It’s a beautifully decorated, creative hair salon with a cute and cozy atmosphere!

    The salon was quite busy, but as soon as we arrived, the hairstylists quickly arranged seats for both of us. They even provided water and small snacks, which was such a thoughtful touch!

    The consultation went smoothly. Although my Chinese isn’t very good, it wasn’t a problem at all. I simply told them I wanted a suitable hair color that wasn’t too light. I decided on a deep purple shade that didn’t require bleaching, and I absolutely love the result!

    Overall, I really like this salon. Their hallway is uniquely designed, and they even have a small garden with a swing! My friend and I both enjoyed our experience—Castle V is a comfortable and friendly hair salon that we’d definitely recommend!

    Here’s my feedback after getting my hair repaired.

    My perm was completely ruined by another salon, so I searched on Xiaohongshu for ways to restore damaged hair. That’s when I discovered Castle V in Kovan, which is conveniently close to my home in Hougang. I contacted Chris, the salon owner, on WeChat and booked an appointment for the 27th to help me fix my hair.

    The process took about two hours, during which Chris patiently explained everything and even taught me how to care for my hair at home. She also gave me a nourishing hair treatment to use at home it smells amazing and makes my hair feel incredibly smooth!

    While I was there, I noticed another customer who seemed unhappy with her perm, which was done by a male stylist at the salon. I felt like the issue was mainly a communication barrier the stylist had a strong Chinese accent, while the young female customer, who only spoke English, kept expressing her dissatisfaction. Chris stepped in to assist, arranging for another stylist to adjust her bangs, but the customer remained unhappy and eventually left, despite their efforts.

    This experience made me realize how challenging the service industry in Singapore can be. It’s no surprise that fewer people want to work in this field! Hair styling is so subjective some people love curls, while others prefer straight hair; some like bangs, while others don’t. What one person finds beautiful might not be someone else’s preference.

    Personally, I really appreciate Chris’s professionalism and patience. Even though she was busy, she was meticulous and never rushed. She even advised me not to dye my hair immediately since it had just been repaired, and to wait until my next visit no hard selling at all! I truly respect her honesty and skill, and I’m very satisfied with my experience.

    I’ll definitely come back to dye my hair next time!

    This is my third visit to the salon, and the straightening and hair care treatment results are excellent. The hairstylists here provide great advice on what suits me best, and the pricing is transparent with no pressure to spend more. They are professional in their recommendations, and I don’t mind paying a bit more because I understand the value of getting what you pay for. I highly recommend this place if you need hair treatments for frizz or a quality haircut. You should definitely come here!

    This is the second time I come to this hair grafting shop! The results are as good as ever, the price is affordable, and the service is exceptional. The boss, proprietress and staff are all very enthusiastic and professional, making people feel very comfortable. The hair looks particularly natural after grafting and the hair quality is also very good! Friends around me say it looks great! Will come again next time, highly recommended! I have introduced it to several friends and they all said it was very good… I will update next time!

    The teacher is very meticulous and will carefully determine the color and style to be dyed. He will also care about the bleaching condition and whether it is comfortable.     I came here today to try it out. The teacher was very professional and the process was very pleasant. The final effect was amazing. I have never had any trouble getting my hair done here. The technique is really amazing. My face suddenly became much smaller and my hair color was better. Super revealing!
    The teachers are very good at chatting, and there is no awkwardness like going to a barber shop and not knowing what to say! ✅✅💟💟🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

    Long overdue review, but nonetheless a genuine one. On the day of my appointment, I arrived on time to find the entire shop dark with no one present. I rang the doorbell multiple times, sent Instagram messages (where I booked), and WhatsApp messages, but received no reply. It was only after I called multiple times then someone finally answered. I waited for more than an hour before the crew casually returned from their lunch—without so much as an apology or any hint of remorse.

    Once seated, I noticed a camera propped up in front of me recording without my consent and I was asked questions. I didn’t want to make a fuss because: 1) I was alone, 2) it was my first time at this salon, 3) I was new to hair extensions, and most importantly, 4) my wedding was in three days.

    Adding to the discomfort, other staff on-site (if they were even staff) were openly sleeping on the hairwash chairs, or loudly chatting on video calls with friends/partners. On top of that, there was a large dog locked in the unit that barked every five minutes, making the environment feel chaotic and unprofessional.

    The male stylist showed me two options for hair extensions, explaining that the price I was quoted was for a cheaper, student-quality option, while the more expensive one (which required a top-up) was better quality and made from real human hair. I opted for the upgrade. Two people then worked on my hair simultaneously—one on each side—which made me nervous about the outcome being uneven.

    When they finished, I didn’t see much of a difference and asked for more strands to be added. The stylist obliged and then offered to trim my hair, saying the haircut was included. I specifically asked him to trim my bangs to eye level, but instead, he snipped them all at once—too short (forehead length) and unevenly slanted. He immediately blamed my natural hair parting instead of taking responsibility and did not apologize. When I was leaving, he kept insisting that if I had any issues, I should message him directly on WeChat first. This made it clear he knew he had messed up. I was on the verge of tears, knowing my wedding was just days away.

    On my wedding day, my makeup artist did her best to fix my bangs. However, she pointed out that the extensions were of poor quality and likely mixed with synthetic hair, as they couldn’t hold curls, even after multiple attempts.

    A few months later, before my honeymoon, I decided to give the salon another chance for a retouch and removal (since removal alone cost quite a bit and I needed to dye my now brassy hair). This time, another male stylist, handled my case more professionally. Unfortunately, the original stylist was instructed to remove my extensions, and the process was rough—I felt like I lost a lot of hair as he forcefully brushed through my hair.

    I also added platinum white extensions during this visit, but no aftercare instructions were provided. Within just two weeks of my honeymoon, the extensions had turned yellow. Additionally, I paid extra for their frizz-controlling treatment, but it only lasted for about a month.

    In total, I spent close to $2,000, and it was absolutely not worth it. I would rather pay more at a professional salon that knows how to treat customers and deliver quality results.

    Poor communication, unprofessionalism, subpar product quality, and lack of aftercare advice across both visits left me deeply disappointed. I’ve learned my lesson—this salon is not worth a third chance.

    2. Not any simple before & after hair transformation. It was an interview video with my face & used as free mkting w/o consent (series now removed)

    3. Video caller was your staff. No other customers around.

    5. Not told that the hair couldn’t be styled. Your stylist curled my hair even. So premium materials = 100% human hair or premium mixed synthetic + human hair?

    I first discovered Castle V through Instagram while searching for good hair extensions. I’ve been a victim of bad hair extensions for years like being upsold, not getting them done properly even after paying a high price which I’m sure many girlies can relate to.

    However, my experience at Castle V was surprisingly amazing. The prices for extensions are pretty standard, but the difference was that I didn’t get upsell, and my hair turned out better than ever. it’s easy to maintain and I wake up with good hair everyday.

    many of my friends noticed how good my hair looked and even asked me to recommend!

    I did hair extensions with them about 3 months ago. The hair extensions are perfect. They feel very light and comfortable. Very easy to manage day to day too. I definitely think they are the best in the business for hair extensions. The salon staff are very friendly and professional and show you how to look after your extensions. Well done.     I went to get my hair extensions nervous because I met them through Xiaohongshu. I was very happy that not only did I not fall into any trap, but the employees were very awesome, very gentle, very considerate, and the environment was beautiful and the workmanship was better. I will come again❤️❤️❤️I rarely give reviews here. You are so good, so great. I finally found a hair salon that can satisfy me.

    Found them while scrolling tiktok & xhs. Met Chris. She’s unlike other hairdresser whom the moment when sat down will ask me what i wanna do. Luv that she listened & asked to understand me before recommending what is suitable. She ensure all is good then pass on to her team to work on my hair. Yet she still do the checks during the process. Ty Chris & team. See u all & lovely Ni Ni soon🥰

    Very good experience with the hair stylists here.
    The hair extension service is so far the fastest, and the extensions r really feather weight even after doing full head it won’t feel the tightness or uncomfortable.
